Specialty Doctor

A fantastic new job opportunity has arisen for a committed Specialty Doctor to work in an exceptional hospital service based in the Atherton, Manchester area. As a Specialty Doctor you will be working for one of UK's leading health care providers.

This service offers a range of care settings for male patients with personality disorder and/or mental illness. The purpose-built medium, low secure and rehabilitation wards, as well as a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) are all set within an 11-acre site with extensive woodland and landscaped areas.

As a Specialty Doctor your key responsibilities include:
• Ensuring an adequate handover to colleagues including out of hours.
• Reviewing the mental state of patients as per the hospital procedure.
• Ensuring (with the physical health team) that each patient has a full physical health screen upon admission including physical examination, ECG and bloods.
• Assisting in the completion of discharge letters and reports as required in a timely manner.
• Depending on your experience, providing oral evidence at First-tier Tribunal and Hospital Managers' hearings under the supervision of Consultant.
• Contributing to the service development by participating in Clinical Governance activities by conducting audits, research and teaching.
• Work effectively with colleagues to ensure that patients have access to appropriate medical cover at all times.

An ideal Specialty Doctor must have these skills as they are beneficial for this position:
• Experience working in psychiatry within multi-disciplinary teams.
• To be in good CPD standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and to have had an appraisal within the last year.
• At least 3 years' experience in Psychiatry
• Experience working as a doctor within PICU and forensic psychiatry (desirable).
• Section 12 (2) approval (desirable)

The successful Specialty Doctor will receive an excellent annual salary of £80,000 per annum. This exciting position is a Full Time role working 37.5 hours a week. In return for your hard work and commitment you will receive the following generous benefits:
