Podium Restaurant Bar & Lounge
Located in Manchester's landmark hotel in the city centre, the Hilton Manchester Deansgate, this cosmopolitan restaurant is an institution on the local dining scene. The Podium Restaurant, Bar and Lounge – with its discreet banquette seating, dim lighting and crisp linen tablecloths – has a sexy, old-school New York vibe and is an impressive setting for any occasion. The restaurant serves everything from smoothies and full English breakfasts with Bury black pudding, to a sophisticated international menu with local influences in the evening – our favourite dish being Podium's signature Malaysian king prawn curry. The glamorous setting - conducive to an aperitif or two before dinner – is popular with both locals and hotel guests.

Samsi
Manchester’s Samsi is a well established restaurant widely agreed to serve “the best Japanese food in the North West”, to quote the Manchester Metro. The basement is home to Samsi Express, a modern space designed for casual eating, and a colourful Japanese supermarket. Upstairs, traditional dugout style seating lends itself to slightly more formal dining. Here an exciting menu lists a huge range of dishes from every corner of Japan. The teriyaki dishes are highly recommended; the sushi fabulous. New dishes are frequently introduced. A weakening of the Japanese Yen has kept prices low, making the Samsi experience excellent value. You'll find the original Samsi in Cheshire. Samsi runs a buffet instead of the a la carte menu on Sunday lunch times.

Sam’s Chop House
A long time Manchester institution, Sam’s Chop House led the way for new gastropubs in the North West. As much a local icon as a Gallagher or a City player, Sam’s is built on good old fashioned Northern charm with a little splash of Dickensian style thrown in for good measure. Victorian-esque caricatures of the locals adorn panelled walls, the furnishings are straight out of an old-school pub and the atmosphere is ten times as warm and welcoming as you could ever expect from any other city centre bar, a locals spot where everyone is invited to join the party. Seasonal, made to order dishes reflect the best of the region’s produce – Sam’s Chop House is serious about good British food – while an impressive wine list and even an in house ale completes the picture of the perfect pub-restaurant.
